<I never understood the point behind the Quattro Sport body. Was
<it supposed to improve weight distribution? Did it work?

<Cool hood on that car, with the air-intake grill... butt-ugly in 
<other respects...   just an opinion, of course...

A couple of reasons that I know of:

1) better handling & quicker turning in very tight corners
    (of which there are many in Pro Rally)

2) less stability at speed (again quicker handling for Pro Rally,
    instability is your friend if you know how to use it)

3) lower weight (this was a secondary bonus)

1 & 2 are really of no benefit in a street car or possibly even
in a road race car.
