Hi Terre Haute,
   I once broke down between Birmingham and Chattanooga in a Nissan at
Midnight. There was an excellent mechanics shop that AAA took me to that 
was on the same street as the Best Western motel in the town that was the
hometown to the "Alabama" band. I don't remember the name of the shop, but
they were reasonable and inventive. Also, theres someone on the Qlist who
I've communicated with who is from Chattanooga. They ought to know
something in Chattanooga if you don't hear from Birmingham.
   By the way, one of my former grad students now teaches at UAB and the
OBGYN who delivered my son went there even though he was from Connecticut.
