Starter Trouble [2]

Thanks for all the responses. Although I trust the shop for the most part,
I realize that most of the time they have an attitude of "replace parts
until we find the culprit." This can get expensive quickly, especially with
a Q. I'll be sure to tell 'em to check the starter by running a direct
power feed to it, and then go from there. This could be as simple as a
corroded wire or bad ignition switch.

Thanks fellas! Oh and sorry for the lack of subject on the original post.

On another note: I left the Subaru Loyale 4wd loaner in the parking lot and
took my brother's 91 VW Golf instead tonight. We're getting hit with a good
size storm tonight dumping 4-7" of snow locally. As I anticipated, my
expectations of better overall performance for a front-driver with snows
(Hak 10s) than a 4wd (with all seasons) was confirmed. Although the little
Golf was hampered by it's light weight and consequent float on some of the
thick slush, it did admirably well. Stopping was the BIG problem with the
Subaru and the Golf was immensely better.

Like I tell (some would say mistakenly) some potential customers of mine
who are looking at buying a Sport-Ute because theirs is awful in the snow..
"Consider replacing those all-seasons with some dedicated snow tires. You
don't NEED a Sport-Ute, you NEED better tires."
