I complain about the same problem, why they would make a great car only to
forget about the ugly appearance of the brake pads. It takes exactly one day
for my clean wheels to get black ugly......I hate them. I hate them I hate
them !!
You could use the dust sheilds without a problem, unless you're going to
racetrack the car. If you racetrack the car there's a chance you would over
heat the brakes ....sooner.....than if you didn't have the shields.
I think the best thing to do is buy Ferodo brake pads............great pads
with no dust. I've tried the sheilds on my Taurus and they did keep the
dust off the wheels.....althought I really don't like them....It's hard to
wash the wheels now because I cannot get the sponge through the wheel to clean
the spokes and when you go get tires, State inspection or if anyones working
on your car you HAVE to tell them about the sheild and how to install them
correctly - To me it was a big hassle.
BUT they are better than Nothing ! I went to Ferodo pads on my street
Porsche and love them...........I can do racetrack events and have little or
no dust showing. If I do get a little dust it is a grey/tan color that is not
that noticable.
I have about 2300 mi on my ' 97 A4TQ and within the next month I will be
buying the Ferodos. Hope this helps,
Sincerely,
