front end groan

My front end suspention makes a groaning sounds, when driving over humps or
applying brakes. It is more noticable during humid/rainy days and in the
mornings. The groan goes away after around 10 mins of driving on a dry day.
The car is 91 Audi 90 (RHD), the noise comes from front left side.
On rainy days it is also happening when I turn the steering wheel.
What should I be looking for when I raise the front end and crawl under the car?
Any help and pointers will be welcomed.
