This sounds simular to the way my ex-4kq behaved (with or without locking)
when I first bought it...problem was a bad front CV joint on the (front-to-
rear) driveshaft. Sounds driveshaft related at any rate...front CV or center
bearing? HTH and let us know what the fix ends up being.
