but at least in this show the issue of pedal misapplication is
addressed.  As opposed to modifying transmissions to try to make the car
do it on its own.  

BTW when I bought my second Audi they were depreciating so fast it
booked for $9000 and I was able to buy it for $7000, from an independent
dealer!  I was able to borrow not only the amount to buy the car, but
the insurance and registration money as well!

It was an automatic (83 5kt), and I had to break the habit of hopping
in, flipping the key and pulling out without the use of the brake pedal
at all.  The idle was so balanced with the transmission that it would
sit there in D without moving if you didn't give it gas.
