I have a pair of AVSs on my CQ. I find them loud, louder than the
BFGoodrich Comp T/A's on my RX7. They also don't seem to be as percise,
although that may be the typical Audi feel and the high sidewall.

The AVSs were quite good in the snow, as well as freezing rain and sleet.
If it were me, however, I would go for the BFGoodrich tires, esp. since
you're in Texas. They're not very good in the snow, but otherwise they're
better than the AVSs, I think.

Why do you need a V or Z rating? Do you regularly go faster than 130 mph?
I've got V's on my RX7, since the tire you can only get V's in those tire
sizes, You might save yourself some money by getting HR's... I would stay
away from the Z-rated tires. They're heinously expensive and usually have
worse treadwear.

The AVS S4-Vs that came with my car were put on by the previous owner, and
I'm not sure I like them. On the other hand, I've the CQ for about a
month 1/2, and maybe I'm just getting used to the vague feel of the
steering, having been spoiled by the RX7.

Some other tires I would look at, although they might break your budget
and I don't know about size availability...

Bridgestone Potenza RE71 & Expedia S-01
Pirelli P6000

I know that people on the RX7 mailing list give the RE71 high marks for
price/performance/wear. I dunno how it would do on our quattros...

Hope this helps.
