Is quattro conversion possible?

Thanks everybody for all the info so far on engine types and auto to
manual conversion.

I am thinking of extending the project a little and install quattro on
my '87 100.

Is that possible without making serious changes to the car body?

I am especially worried about mounting the rear diff. Is a non-quattro
car prepared for that?
