Extra boost?

It seems that a couple of times I've exceeded the 2.0 bar computer limit
of my car. For a couple of months, I've been using 93 octane. Before on 87
At 2 bar, I'd hear a lot of popping out the back along with the knock
light. On 93 it doesn't do this anymore. Does that mean I'm necessarily
exceeding 2 bar? Can I safely slightly exceed it? I'm ordering a VDO boost
gauge today because the stock gauge only goes to 2.0 bar. I don't plan on
exceeding 2 bar, but I just want to know where to dial back.
