This rubber mallet on the floorpan thing could be a variant of the problem
that my 5KCSTQ is having.  Thumping noises happen when the center
differential is locked and I am taking a moderately tight turn.  On mine
they sound like they're coming through the floorpan just behind the front
seats, but it is hard to localize when you're sitting in the car.  

I am going to check the motor and transmission mounts tomorrow and I'll
let you know what I find.
