Shane,
What you're probably seeing is caused when the adjuster
is bouncing off the prop shaft. Audi chose to use a thin/narrow
piece of spring steel (?), mounted to the body, to keep the
adjuster off the driveshaft. The stud that it is mounted to
rusts away, the result being a polished ring on the prop shaft,
a strange hollow-metallic ringing from the underside, and a
pulsating handle...

I am having a strange problem with the parking brake on my '86 4kcsq. When the
brake handle is totally down (disengaged) it makes a strange squealing sound in
the read and the handle pulsates. With the brake handle up (not yet engaging
the brakes, but taking the slack out), the problem stops... I imagine this is
just a case of too much slack in the system, but I thought I would check here
first. Also, is this an easy fix?
Thanks Again, Shane
