Re: 86 4kq stumbles when cold



My 87 4kcsq does the same thing.  It seems to be related to the 
engine temp., and only happens over a very narrow and well defined 
temperature range.  I have some ideas about what is happening, but 
they are only speculation.  I do know that by watching the temp 
gauge, I can tell almost exactly when this is going to start 
happening.  At this point I keep the engine RPMs over 2k until the 
engine warms up a little bit more.  As long as I keep it over 2k when 
driving there is no problem.
