Ah! So I'm not the only one embarrass my self with an Audi fuel line then.
My particular stupidity was to drill out the remains of a fuel pump
mounting bush on an 80q (the rubber bit had parted company from the metal
threaded bits). As soon as the drill drilled through metal, it leapt
straight into the nearest plastic fuel line (pressurised of course). (Why
on earth are plastic fuel lines with push-on fittings used on the high
pressure side of the pump on the underside of the car with no protection
from the elements?) I got out of there VERY quickly, but I was still
covered in petrol.

How stupid can I get? There seem to be no limits.

p.s. As punishment for my stupidity, the Audi God's made sure that the
replacement fuel line shown on the fiche was for a totally different car. I
think the fiche even claimed that the 1984 80q did not use the KK engine.
I eventually ordered a 90q line and that seemed to fit, but then at the
cost, I would have been very upset if it didn't.
