Re:Used Car Prices
Some of you people need to slow down and take a look at what you are saying.
I have been rebuilding Audi's for about 10 years now and just like everything
else it can be done right or wrong. To me it is a shame to see a late model
low mileage Audi go to a junk yard to be parted out if it can be restored.
The person who said he would make a ridiculous offer for the car because it
had been restored is an idiot. If he wants a car for that price I will find
one fix it like crap and sell it to him and everyone will be happy except him
since he did not get to screw someone out of a car for nothing. Someone else
on the list said they would verify the integrity of the car since they know
the man who restored it and he was an excellent mechanic. I would much
rather have this car than one that some idiot had (low ball offer on car)
owned and knew nothing about maintenance of the car. If someone on the list
is willing to put his reputation on the line to state damage and repair on
car, I would much rather have it than one from a dealer marked up another
$4-5K which probably would have more miles and less knowledgable care. I am
restoring a 92/S4 for me right now for my own use with 45K miles and would
much rather have it than a car with 145k miles
and the car will be back to exact factory specs when I finish with it.
I read an article one time and it said that 70% of all cars on a dealers lot
have been wrecked at one time or another.
The reason that rebuilt cars have gotten such a bad reputation is because of
the idiot that said they would offer him something that would piss him off.
So what should the builder do next time, build crap so he can sell it to this
idiot for niothing?
I have had people fly in from as far as the west coast and all over the
country to buy an Audi from me and they have been exactly what I said they
were and I got a thank you letter on the list last June for one that went to
Seattle and it was repaired to the best of my ability and I spent much more
restoring it than what I could have done it for.
So, for the Idiot that said they would offer an idiotic price for the car. I
hope he gets a piece of crap from someone for what he pays for it. YOU GET
WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

P.S. The builder could also have lied and not told him that it had been
wrecked at all and with the intelligence of this person he would probably
never have know. Sounds like the builder is exactly as the lister described
him.
