Considering the general level of atrocious spelling on the list, this is
very much a case of pot calling the kettle black.  

I continue to work on the format problem and am about to put myself on
q-list probation,  bear with me.

According to my Scottish natural philosophy instructor (aka: Physics),
aluminum, of which Audi A8's are made (MAC), is the "correct" way.  The
additional "i" was added because the average Briton couldn't say aluminum. 
As he was not a linguist, he could well have been mistaken.  As far as the
other "ium's", who says science is consistent?
