  from what i know, SUMITOMO is their parent company. if you check
  out the tire rack ads/pages, they also sell SUMITOMO tires. usually
  these tires are cheaper compared to the same tires which are
  badged as DUNLOPs.

  the SP8000s that i have here in the US are made in germany. i remember
  reading somewhere that these are the tires which use the german specs.
  i believe (but not 100% sure) that there are the japanese-made SP8000s
  as well.
