Rothenburg Extraction
Hi All!
I have stowed away my 3 XR4tis and 4 Scorpios and have relished my 5KTQ
in the recent weeks as snow has finally arrived in Minnesota.
The neat thing about the Merkur list is the manageable e-mail traffic.
I get nearly as many quattro digests per day as individual merkur posts.
That's cool and all and I have already abused my bandwidth for the
month, but there is only one thing wrong with my trusty steed. The
stereo is flaky. At any given time I have about 3-4 of the 10-speaker
array working.
Taking the incremental approach, I have acquired a pair of cheap Pioneer
5.25s from Crutchfield, a refurbed Jensen CD player from Damark and the
wiring adapters from the former as well.
But I can't get the freaking Rothenburg out. Bentley sez remove the
console fascia. I can't see why. Crutchfield's advice refers only to
proper application of the DIN removal tool. All I've managed to remove
with THAT is the faceplate.
Before I plant plastic explosive charges in and around the Rotten
Rothenburg, might one among us have some off-list advice?
My Kinks CD collection BEGS to accompany the wife and kiddies on a sled
trip *Up North* and it isn't fair that only two headfone-equipped
urchins get to enjoy the lads.
Cheers!
