I guess one must define 'restoration' clearly . I think of restoration as completely stripping
the exterior and interior and rebuilding to like-new standards for cosmetic perfection.
Upgrading/rebuilding/replacing the mechanical bits could be optional, depending on
their condition. This IMFO is 'restoration'.

On my 85 ur-q the body, paint and interior is all pretty much as it was when it left the
factory and is in no need of 'restoration', it's mostly mint. However, all the mechanical
bits are new/replaced/rebuilt to factory or better specs using many factory parts for
upgrades where possible.

Is this car restored? Upgraded? Rebuilt? Just fanatically over-maintained?
I would not call it restored, but over-maintained, upgraded and very original and
authentic. Original, authentic and un-restored automobiles are very rare and
valuable and are very much sought after by collectors and marque nuts like us,
hence high prices.

Thoughts?
