As far as i know all I5 NA engines have them.  If you look at your engine 
block from the front of the car, you will see this little aluminum thing 
sticking off the right side of it with a couple vacuum hoses on the top 
of it.  That is the vacuum pump...

there are two bolts holding it on, just disconnect the vacuum lines, take 
of the two bolts, and it should just come off in your hand...

clean it out as best as you can...but before you reinstallthe little 
pushrod, reattach the pump without it and see if your tapping goes 
away....

if it does,t you know what your problem is :o)
