Crash. Or, I've toured the farmlands....
It happened. It's over. This American _is_ stupid. I take it all back. I
can't believe it. I wish I were dead, but apparently it ain't gonna happen.
Osman Parvez wrote to me the first thing I read tonight after getting back:
> About 1.5 years ago I sent in a poem about a engine breaking down again,

WHY DIDN'T YOU SEND THAT MESSAGE EIGHT HOURS AGO?!?!?!
Sorry, it's not your fault, I'm just unbelievably upset.
I seriously tweaked the 5KCSTQ tonight. ALL MY FAULT. Not enough headlights,
not enough sense, looking at the radio when I should have been looking at the
road, not enough braking room. I slid headlong off the end of an icy road
onto a farm. First, though, I passed through a ditch that ripped the front
spoiler and back bumper off of the car. Also, the oil pan has a much more
streamlined profile, and the car has no oil pressure. It started (instantly,
I assure you) afterward. The rear door on the passenger side no longer has a
good relationship with the rest of the body and the RR wheel has about 5
degrees of negative camber. Front end looks OK except for the air dam.
Somebody please give me the straight dope: will the rear subframe bend before
or after the rest of the rear suspension? Can I successfully get the body re-
straightened? By how far does the crankshaft clear the oil pan? It had
better be more than two inches.
This truly sucks. It sucks so much I can't describe it. Well, I could, but I
couldn't forgive myself for posting it.
Thanks for any help/support/advice, I did a little 2 minute dance of delirium
in the snow praying that I'd wake up from the nightmare, hands flailing, eyes
shut, etc., etc.....then I realized I was freezing to death in the middle of
******* nowhere with a severely damaged car and started walking and got a tow
truck.
Best Wishes,
Alex
Motor mounts are the least of my worries now.
