What is the sensor/switch/fuse on the WG-heat shield for ?

Hi, again.

Does anyone know what the little sensor/fuse/switch placed under the Inlet manifold, on the WG heatshield is for.  It has one red wire connected to it.

It looks like a thermoswitch of some sort.
