5k vs. urq handling [WAS: Re: 5000TQ master cylinder on a urq?]

 # I think the MC-2/1B/MB change that Audi made between 1987 and 1989 _really_
 # improved driveability. Since then, they've done great things technologically
 # at the high end of the product range (V8Q, A8) but I don't think they've made
 # as much progress in the other sections of their product range.

... I definitely agree with your first statement, but I beg to differ on the
last. As I've stated before, my impression of the handling capabilities of
the '88 5kCSQ Avant are that although the car has a bit more body roll and a
smoother ride I find I can take the reasonably twisty roads just south of my
house ;) at about the same speed in either car. Up until recently when the
urq was stock and the 5k had the QLCC chip I was actually getting to like the
5k's overall experience better. Now that I have the Schrappnell Knobben and
the IA ECU I'm enjoying the urq more ...

I know that the Avant has a more sophisticated multi link rear suspension to
make it possible to have a wagon ... perhaps that is the major source of the
improved performance ...
