RE: Brake proportioning valve urq vs. 4kq?
# This _may_ be true as the ur-q and 4KQ hydraulic systems are very similar, but,
# there might be a diff in the valve though due to different tahrs and different weight
# distribution F&R.
I did look into it as the 4kQ badly needed one and there was a sale on
them a while back ... both the 4kQ and the urq have the exact same P/N
for the proportioning valve. I bought a spare! :)
#
# <I want to replace the part on our urq along with the master cylinder in
# <prep. for PIR next month. Someone recommended just taking the valve out,
# <but I'm not sure.
#
# Only replace it if it is leaking. I would *not* recommend eliminating it in any case,
# it does serve a critical purpose, unlike cup holders.....
Agreed, but some people recommend replacing it with an adjustable propor-
tioning valve. The caveat to those who do this is the fact that the OEM
part is designed to restore full brake pressure to the rear brakes if the
fronts lose pressure ...
HTH!
