Actually, carbon fiber reinforced plastics are used in applications where flex is a key feature, e.g. 2-stroke reed valves and sailboat masts.

The characteristics of a particular sample is very dependent on matrix formulation, fiber type, content, orientation, build-up, and
the method of forming.
