Being the tire engineer that I am, I suggest that you replace the 
tire.  It sounds like it got pinched between the curb and the wheel. 
And if you took a big chunk of sidewall rubber off (that you glued 
back on), chances are that the body plies are damaged also. The least 
you should do is have the tire dismounted and inspected from the 
inside. Inspect the wheel for runout.  Have the car aligned also.

Never let an amateur drive your cars.
