clearcoat or?????????

most top quality european paints are now "basecoat-topcoat", as are many
domestic automotive paints. maybe he's simply saying what he will have to
use to refinish your car. although i have only painted a dozen or so cars,
my experience at painting several thousand bicycles over the last fifteen
years does give me some background knowledge in painting, paint products,
and prep. quality automotive paints are very pricey- but you get incredible
quality of finish, gloss retention, fade resistance (doesn't affect the
brakes)---long life of finish, and resistance to oxidation  when you select
the best.
