Radiator question (Ur quattro)
I topped up the coolant in my Ur-q last Sunday morning but by Thursday I was
seeing an occasional temperature rise above normal after sharp turns. I've
noticed a few drips of water on the garage floor but hadnt been able to
identify the source until a few minutes ago. The main radiator is leaking
from the matrix/header tank joints just below where the aux. radiator top
and vent hoses join. At least, as far as I can see its the matrix joints
that are leaking. I know that the aux. radiator isn't in too good condition
either but is still pressure tight.
So, do I :-
1. Replace them both with an oversize alloy radiator
2. Fit new standard size radiators
3. Have both existing radiators recored
My thoughts are that 1 is expensive and I dont find the aux. radiator too
much of a pain to deal with when working on the car and 3 should be less
expensive than 2. The drawback to 3 is having the car off the road while the
recoreing work is carried out, but I can get hold of some different
transport.
Any opinions?
