To be or not to be--that is the '99 S4 question.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, yesterday was quite the frustrating day
for me. Went to the St. Louis International Auto Show and really
enjoyed the day. However, when I asked the 'AOA represesentative'
about the biturbo S4 coming to the US this fall I got no answers.
The salesman working the floor said that the S4 would not make it as
a '99 model but rather a '00 car. According to the salesman the TT
would be coming in the spring of '99 and the S4 would follow that.

This does not jive with Car and Driver, Motor Trend, and other sources,
but since we have heard no official word from AOA, what is one to think?

When I asked the two beautiful people behind the Audi desk if they were
'with AOA' they said that they 'represent AOA' at the auto shows.
Hmmm....

Also AOA should sue the producers of the Auto Show program. The article
on Audi misquoted prices on the ENTIRE Audi line by $10-20 thousand!!!
and I quote:

"MSRP for the new A6 has been reduced 0.8 percent from 1997 pricing to
only $48,880"

"For its sports sedans, the MSRPs of the 1998 models are $32,700 for the
A4 1.8T and $38,800 for the A4 2.8"

"MSRP for the 1998 A8 4.2 with its quattro all wheel drive system is
$90,540"

I informed the two beautiful people about the pricing problems in the
article, and they said they were already aware of it.

Now that being said and assuming this to be misprinting....I then
questioned myself and thought that the Audis really were a value today
in comparison to MB 'n' BMW. The salesman also said that with the
demand for the Audis on the rise, that we could expect prices of Audis
to go upwards. He said that within 5 years, AOA would be again selling
70,000+ vehicles in the US. Could this article have been a marketing
reaction test? I'm may be paranoid, or I may be a test rat.

If you want to see the article I will scan and e-mail to you upon
request.
