Rear defrost not working

The rear defrost on my Coupe has not worked for the past year or so. Since
I don't often need it, I haven't really bothered to investigate. So, this
afternoon I go out there with my multimeter and check it out, expecting to
have a break in the wiring or something.

Well, I am getting a good 12+ volts across the window terminals of the
rear defrost, voltage is not the problem. Also, I get about 18 Ohms of
resistance across the window, so at least some of the traces should be
conducting.

Upon further examination, it looks as if the traces are severely oxidized.
Am I correct in thinking that the traces are made of copper? Could this
oxidation prevent the defrost from working correctly?

Anyone know of a safe way to clean the traces without breaking them?

Thanks,
Eric
