Karl Schmidt GMBH. When I rebuilt the engine of my black '74
100LS, I ended up with a set of crank bearings made by KS. They
never gave me any trouble. I was really torturing that engine toward
the end of life of the car it was in at the time (a smoke-blue 74 
100LS). The engine is a few feet from me, but I've never dismantled
it to see how they look. But they're probably still good.

The box bears the motto "BEARINGS * ORIGINAL" in several
different languages.

These are probably the same bearings Audi used when they built
the engine. Your mechanic chose well, I wouldn't sweat this.
