RE: cam timing & turbo cam

I am wondering if maybe I might have installed my timing belt a couple of
gears advanced. I am getting lots of power from about 3k-4500 and at about
5000 it really starts to die. Any problems leaving it like this for a while?

Well, the install was complete as of 11:30 last night. The car does pull
stronger in the low end to mid range (just as I suspected) due to the
increase in cam gear timing. Not sure if the cam itself did much to the
improvement and would suspect that if there is an improvement it would be
small. Interesting to note, the N/A cam comes with what I would call
scoops out of the fat end of the lobe, while the turbo cam does not. .
.Mmmmmmm. . .

The main reason for doing the cam swap was the fact that had one sitting in
the barn from a parts car that is minus a head (Bruce). As for the noisy
lifters. . . silence is golden. I can now sit at a drive-up window without
the car sounding as if its going to chatter itself to death.

Bottom line: the cam gear advance is a good no-buck improvement, while the
cam itself may not be worth the hassle in the 89+ N/A motor (haven't looked
at Bently yet).
