With all this seat talk I have one more question to add:
will a manual seat from a 5000/whatever bolt onto the A4 floor pan (two
rails in the back, one channel in the front centre)?
The UK outfit that I am dealing with, has my Cobras in stock but still
has trouble finding the bolt-on sliding kit for the A4.
OTOH a local bone yard has a coupla '85 5000, so I can get the seat
bases reasonably cheap. If they bolt onto the A4 floor pan, I'm gonna
buy some steel angle @ Home Depot, fabricate improvised mounting rails
for the Cobras pick up points and weld them onto the 5000 seat frames.
Actually there will be even an added benefit: I will get both tilt AND
slide, whereas with the aftermarket mounting kit that I am trying to get
from the UK it will be just slide and no tilt.
Now, granted having the tilt is not imperative coz I am 182 and my wife
is 178 cm tall and my A4 has a sunroof so the head room is kinda scarce,
but still it would be kinda nice to have both tilt and slide.
Plus, a lot cheaper too AND I won't have to wait any longer for the UK
lads to come up with a custom A4 mounting kit.
Any ideas? Thanks,
