European 1.8T vs US

Hi All,
I have been trying to find a spec. for the stock power/torque of the
European 1.8t A4 without sucsess. Before buying my '98 I was also looking
into the
Passat 1.8. The dealer salesdroid remarked that at their introduction
to the car, the technician had said it was possible to change the power
output of the engine (via the diagnostic connection to the Motronic computer)
to the 'European' model, roughly 190hp. It would be no surprise to me if this
were the case. However, I would like to see the hp/torque curves for the
European
level of tune, so I can compare them to the aftermarket ECU mods offered by
the likes
of TAP, et. al. The next step will be to find an Audi technician who is
susceptable
to bribery, there is no substitute for CHEAP power.

Can anybody confirm or deny this story, or help with the power/torque
specs????
