Re:H&R Springs

I would tend to agree with Eric on this: an occasional advertisement for
a place that is selling parts/services that would be of broad general
interest on the Qlist and might not otherwise be noticed by anyone I think
is a good thing. My main objections are:

a) people advertising who aren't themselves qlisters

b) trying to (excessively) use the Qlist as a market for ads of a personal
nature, or for a company that you are affiliated with and stand to profit
from

c) ads that are of limited interest (e.g.: "Mom and Pop's Auto Parts on the
corner of Park West & Simpson in Peoria is having a blow out sale on
cotter pins and Dura Lube this week").

d) long, bandwith wasting ads.

e) junk ads for stuff like Mecacyl Hyper Lubricant (which can only be
detected by protonic bombardments)

On the other hand, if Scott or Graydon or [insert name here] comes up
with something new that they're selling that will make our cars perform
better/last longer, I sure would like to hear about it here.

The only caveat that I can personally add is: make double sure your
source sells to the general public and doesn't mind getting qlist calls ;-).

Dan's been a pretty good gatekeeper in this regard - if it bugs him, then
that's the final word, IMO.

I didn't realize IBM had started giving away computers! Where do I sign
up? ;-)
