They're currently banned from Touring Car because they no longer have old 
enough technology in production.

One real problem is the 5 valve per cylinder engine - none of the other teams 
has yet developed one, so Audi was forced to use an engine that they haven't 
shipped to the public for over four years.  You can buy more modern technology 
from an Audi showroom than their drivers are allowed to use on the track.

I think we sometimes allow the banning of 'quattro' in these races to 
overshadow the fact that just about all of their technology is similarly 
affected.
