Re: New (used) car questions

I think you are out of luck on the radio, no universal code I have ever
heard of. The only solution I have heard is buying a refurbished one from
the dealer ($100 w/ exchange or something to that effect).

I've been going through this recently and the answer unfortunately is
similar. You can't get the code anywhere else except for maybe the ignition
cylinder. I hear R&R on this is a major PITA. I checked with several dealers
if they could cut a key for me if I provided the VIN, they couldn't. One
even tried to order an emergency key from the factory using the VIN, factory
said "no go" as well. Your only hope, Obi-Wan, is if someone jotted the #'s
you are looking for down in the inside cover of your service book? I even
tried the dealer my car was originally purchased at in hopes that they kept
records for the cars they sold, didn't work either.

Good luck with this and if you are more successful than I on the whole key
code thing please let me know.

BTW, I adore this car as well. Low (sachs suspension), wide (245's coming
soon), fast (TAP chip & WG spring), handling and brakes (911 turbo big reds
are en route), and soon to sound sexy too (all SS Stebro w/ cat test pipes,
I, er, uh mean "Euro Resonators," terminating in a B&B fabrication rolled SS
oval tip). Now I know what they drive in heaven. Hallelujah and amen.
