turn up the idle.

ok, ok, ha ha.  but i mean it.

check the timing, clean the spark plug booties, check the mixture, the
air filter, every single vacuum line and connection, open and clean all
the underhood electrical connections, and if all else fails, just -

put in half a tank of your favorite premium fuel with some Chevron
'jector cleaner and drive it like a bat out of hell for 200 miles.  At
least you'll have fun, and hey, it's "doctor's orders", right?  Then
change the oil and filter.
