Actually, looking at the minutes of the SCCA December session under
APPENDIX B, RallyCross Rules-appendix to item 1 (RallyCross), subsection
VEHICLE/DRIVER SAFETY, paragraph 14 reads:

"Inspect helmets for all drivers of the vehicle for helmet condition,
all helmets must be Snell M85, Snell SA85, or newer Snell standards."

Doesn't help me a whole lot as it turns out that my motorcycle helmet is
only DOT rated. However, if one were only going to run RallyCross and
not AutoCross, it would be cheaper to buy a motorcyle helmet than a
special application helmet. Why the rules are more relaxed for
RallyCross I can't say. Seems like fire would be just as likely as in a
RallyCross event as an Autocross event.
