4kt turbo conversion pt. 1 (long)

This is the 1st of 2 posts regarding my 4kqt project. I will go into the
technical part in the next post.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped on my
project over the last 6 months.

To Pete Kunzler who got a call at 10:00 on a Sunday night when he had to work
at 5:00 the next morning. This call was from me who had only known him about
5 months and kicked off this project when I decided to drown my car. Pete and
his lovely wife Terri graciously offered his garage and help and if he would
have known how involved it became it would still not be any different. This
project would have been impossible without him and I cannot thank him enough
for all the support and help. His sons Derrick 8 and Chris 6 also helped when
they could. What a family.

To Sean Upchurch. Who offered to help after meeting him at a local list
gathering only once. He came over on average about 2 times a week and helped
do the things Pete and I did not need to spend the time on. I think he
learned quite a bit (like how to adjust jack stands:-)) and was always there
when we needed him.

To Joe Rae and Adam Dickerhoff. AKA Slave Boys. These guys were our vents.
When Pete and I needed someone to pick on (other than each other) we would ask
these guys over and use and abuse them. I still have not figured out why but
they always came back. They incedently got the stuff done that we did not
want to do. Thank both of you and without you Pete and I would probably be
dead by now.

To Orin Eman. Who bailed our sorry asses out when we got to the starting
stage. He also helped us understand the systems which helped a great deal.
If it is electrical on these cars Orin is the man.

To all the others. Scott Mockery, Al Swakhammer, Ned Ritchie, Alex Neckas,
Andrew Bennett, Chuck Watson, and many others that offered their help for no
other reason but to help a fellow enthusiast out.

You will notice a lot of these names are listmembers and I would also like to
thank Dan Simoes and Eliot Lim for supplying us with these great resources.
Without them there is no way I would have even met most of these great people
or even attempted this project.

I am sure I have butchered at least a few names, and forgotten more so I
appologize in advance. I also included the final budget with the numbers of
costs associated with the conversion. The total was about $3200. Before
anybody chimes in with why did you do this and that, hindsight is always 20/20
and I am smart enough to realize there are a lot of things that could have
been done cheaper. But I am hoping that people will take away a good idea of
what this project will cost using there own numbers.

I hope this gives you an idea of what this might cost you. It took us 6
months but I am sure somone could do a good job in 3 without much problem. I
would like to think we spent time on the details and did everything as close
to stock as possible.
If anyone has any specific questions regarding the budget email me and I will
try to explain.
For any techincal questions please hold them until I post the more detailed
post in a few days.
