The NG engine code was introduced in Feb. of 1987 in the Coupe GT only. The NF
engine code was introduce beginning of 1987 model year in the standard 5000S
with both automatic and manual transmissions. The major difference is that the
5000 still used the old style induction manifold, while the Coupe and
subsequent 80/90 models used a two piece style manifold that the 100 would
adapt. Both the 5000 and the post 2/87 Coupe GT models use CIS-E III type fuel
injection, which has knock sensor and trouble codes.
