If you decide to replace instead of repairing the switch:

I checked with Halsey Import parts (quattro vendor list) at
1-800-792-0081 and they have NEW combo switch assemblies for $118. When
I replaced my combo switch in my 86 5000T many years ago, the switch I
purchased from Halsey was manufactured by the same company who produces
the factory Audi combo switch ($295)
