Very possible, there was also a recall for fuel leaking past the fuel
distributor plunger and into the air filter housing soaking into the
filter element. A back fire through the intake system would cause a nice
fire....in the air filter housing....
Another recall was for leaking injector seals (Non-Viton) with
subsequent fuel leakage and fire danger...
Yet another recall was for a problem with the fuel filler neck that
allowed overfilling of fuel which would swamp out the charcoal cansiter
near the engine compartmetn and cause a fire when the excess fuel came
out the bottom of the canister and was ignited by the exhaust system...
Yikes...please don't "flame" me on this one.....
