The wiring diagram shows a temperature sensor in the
bottom seat cushion with the heating element. This
system is analogous to the AC compressor and inside
temperature sensors. Once the temperature of the cabin
reaches the selected temp on the auto climate control
head, the AC compressor will begin to cycle more
frequently as the temperature hovers around the set
range.
>From what I understand, before total failure of a heating
element, there is often a spot of intense heat. If that
spot happens to be near the temp sensor, then very
shortly after the relay switches on, the sensor would
tell it to switch off. This may be the cause of excessive
cycling of the seat heat relay, especially if the seat
never seems to warm up as much as it should.
