So, are you stating this conclusion because you've had serious whiplash
even though riding in an Audi? Or you've studied this as a chiropractor? An
orthopedist? Or are you simply speculating, based on nothing but a "gut"
feeling?

Also, you seem to be specifically singling out the open Audi/Saab design as
"useless"? Why? If properly adjusted, the open design will have comparable
head-to-support distance as in other common restraint designs. Are they all
useless? Do you have any idea about how drastic the head movement is when
there is _no_ restraint? Relative to unrestrained motion, it seems quite
irrational to term Audi head restraints as functionally "useless". The open
design was not intended to be better for restraining head motion. It was
intended to offer adequate restraint while improving fore-and-aft vision.
Optimum? Most likely not, but "useless"? Come on...

P.S. Saab used to supply little foam pillow inserts to make the open
restraints more comfortable for the "head resters". I don't know if Audi
ever felt the need to do this.
