In my 100cc -87 (manual seats, swedish model) the sensor in the
lower seat cushion is situated approximately 10 cm in front of
where the cables get into the seat. When I had trouble with the
heat in the seat, it was a lose connection at the sensor. I
resolded it, and it has worked fine ever since.
I measured the sensor at 22 degrees C and got a reading of about
13kOhm. I think I made a note somewhere that it was a termistor
of NTC type, i.e. the resistance decreases with increased
temperature. I can check this out later if you wish.

I don't know if this applies to your seat, as I've learned that
there are several components in Audis that differs from model to
model, from market to market, and from year to year.
