5KTQ gearing
87 5KTQ Vs 88 5KTQW gearing
Someone asked me to perform an actual over-the-road test a few weeks ago.
This has been done. Both appear to have the same gears, about 2200 and
change RPM at 60 MPH. So this cannot account for the superior distance capability
of the wagon Vs the sedan before fill-up. I still do not know for sure if the wagon
fool tank is bigger or not. The wagon has almost 180K miles on it where the
sedan has about 156K miles on it. Perhaps the superior cruising distance of
the wagon is purely a function of superior aerodynamics even with the roof racks.
