RE:Eibachs and Alignment (any fix ?)
Hi all,
Actually, I've been wondering about this for a long while. I had my 5kcst
installed a set of Apex springs last summer. After that, my mechanic told
me he couldn't set the alignment back to the stock setting and I have
to run with 1.5 degrees - camber all four conners. Later on, I also found
that my car will pull to the left. So I had my car's alignment check again
and it turned out the toe setting was also out of spec. Mechinac said the
only way to fix this problem is to get a adjustable camber plate!? Has
anyone heard about this before?
Anyway, after 8k miles or so, I found the tire wear is quite normal
(D60A2s), I am not an aggressive driver however. But I think the pulling
to left problem is very bothering especially on the freeway left lane.
My question is: If the springs installed in the wrong way, would they
cause the alignment problem ?
Thank's
Albert Ng

FWIW, when I had the car aligned after the Eibachs were installed, the
camber on the front would go no "better" (i.e. closer... towards
"normal" OEM spec) than 1.5 degrees negative on each side.
I know that more negative camber is better for turn-in response and grip
in cornering (hmm... maybe Eibach intentionally designed this in?), but
how much am I going to suffer in increased tire wear (i.e. negative is
great for cornering, but in a straight line, the inner edge will wear
faster).
Will I be replacing my Comp T/A VR4s in a short period of time?
