Re: Motorweek Best Of Year award(was "Are enthusuast magscredible")
This is a 2-for-the-price-of-1 reply :)

Yhea, but the Caprice is one hell of a tough car...you can do stuff I'd
never _think_ about doing in an Audi.
A friend was pulling out of a blind driveway on a curve(very scary) and
was rammed by a guy in a Dodge Neon. Neon guy got an airbag in the
face(burns, bruises), Neon was totally, completely gone beyond all hope.
She walked away without _any_ injuries(not even a scratch.) Impact was on
the driver's side door pillar, between 40 and 45 mph. I believe they
decided to not repair the caprice, probably because of money involved(like
the deductable.)
I've had the panels off my doors on my 5k and it was very disturbing to
see nothing but a piece of sheet metal, sound dampening material, and
upholstery between me and the outside world. I think seeing what your car
is made of gives you a much better idea of your own mortality in said
vehicle...
To get off on a tangent even more...remember the discussion about the
Colorado troopers using 4k's? What were the details on that? I remember
it coming up quite a long time ago. Sounds like a fun police department :)
I bet a few beemers got the suprises of their lives..."I just got pulled
over by an Owdie!"
One begs to ask how a police department could afford a 4000(I assume at the
time they were new.)

Ok, here's a little explaination:
There were several different "best " categories...best of SUV's, luxury
sedans, sports cars, minivars, and trucks...I might have left out a few.
Then, among those, one was picked to be best of the _year_.
The A6 was picked as the best luxury car and best of the year.
The 911 was picked as best sports car.
The Jaguar won the "best dream car."
Notice I said "best of _year_ competitors included", not "best sedan."
