I did this with Steve Buchholz in my 85 coupe, manual, and we were able 
to get the axles out without taking any of hte suspension apart.  If i 
remember correctly, we turned the wheels to full lock, disconnected the 
shaft at the tranny side and then hammered out the other side...it worked 
really well...
